Gulmarg, Dec 09 (KNO): As predicted by the weatherman, Kashmir’s higher reaches, including the world-renowned ski resort, Gulmarg, have received snowfall, transforming the region into a magical winter wonderland. The snowfall has brought joy to tourists and stakeholders alike, marking the onset of a thriving winter tourism season, with tourists thronging Gulmarg to witness the mesmerizing snow-covered landscape. Pawan Kumar, a first-time visitor from Uttar Pradesh, speaking with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), expressed his delight, saying, “I’ve never seen live snowfall before, and seeing it for the first time is an experience beyond words. I would highly recommend those who haven’t been here to visit Gulmarg". "This (December-January) is undoubtedly the best time to explore this beautiful place, Kumar added. Similarly, Suneedi Khanna, who travelled from Delhi with her family, said Gulmarg is a "Paradise on Earth!" "We are having the time of our lives here in Gulmarg. The snow, the scenery, and the atmosphere—it’s magical. Everyone should visit this destination at least once during winter,” the excited Suneedi, said. Another tourist, Shalani from Delhi, said, “We have been in Kashmir for a few days, and witnessing snowfall in Gulmarg has been breathtaking. The beauty of this place during snowfall is unmatched.” Meanwhile, the hoteliers and tour operators in Gulmarg expressed optimism about the season. "The snowfall has set the tone for what we hope will be a busy winter season. Tourists are already arriving in large numbers, and we are geared up to provide them with the best hospitality," Rayees Ahmed Bakshi, a hotel owner said. Taj Irshad, a travel operator said the snowfall has brought a festive vibe to Gulmarg, and they are already seeing a rise in tourist bookings for winter activities. "Snowfall always brings new opportunities, and we are fully equipped to offer the best winter experiences to our guests", Irshad said. Visitors were seen enjoying the snow, capturing moments, and heading towards the Gulmarg Gondola, which has always been a major attraction for tourists visiting the destination for rides up the snow-laden hills. Notably, authorities have issued advisories for safe travel on the Gulmarg-Tangmarg road. "Only 4x4 vehicles with anti-skid chains will be allowed due to slippery conditions," the advisory said, adding that the LMVs with no more than 10 seats will be permitted to prevent jams. "Registered anti-skid chain vendors will install chains at Rs 600 per pair. Tour operators and private vehicle owners are urged to park in designated spaces, and coat and boot vendors are prohibited from blocking roads to avoid traffic disruptions," reads the advisory—(KNO)
